Check out that Body and Back to School Health Fair a Success!!!

Over 400 local residents visited Wewahitchka Medical Center to take advantage of the free health screenings to celebrate National Community Health Center Week this past year. These free health screenings and health information were provided by more than 60 community health providers. Free school supplies were distributed to all the children that attended the health fair.

Check Out That Body originated by Wewahitchka Medical Center is a month long campaign to promote annual health check-ups. Check up time Elmo, the official mascot for the campaign encourages all persons, children to seniors to get their annual check-ups and host the prize drawings for those that participate. Local businesses donate age appropriate prizes for the drawings. A total of more than 45 prizes were distributed this year, grand prizes included Weekend at the Beach, Nintendo Wii, Swing Set, and Bicycles.

The combination of the Back to School Health Fair and Check Out That Body are a perfect match to promote wellness in Gulf County. Wewahitchka Medical Center is proud to bring these important programs of preventative healthcare to its citizens.
